Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Trick Garda Locals into Fake Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda, offering subscriptions to the force’s magazines.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to be part of the finance department, police, fire brigade, or Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be careful and immediately inform the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,
