Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Trick Garda Region Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri – simply dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after obtaining the money, disappear.
