Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Trick Garda Vendors

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda, offering subscriptions to army magazines.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, police, fire department, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines unrelated to the law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

having obtained money, no longer appear on the scene.
