Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Trick Hoteliers and Retailers

They impersonate Carabinieri when contacting hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in Medio and Alto Garda, proposing subscriptions to magazines of the force.

They are not members of the military, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, police, fire brigade, or municipal police.

How to recognize scams and how to respond

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement.

So, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri – simply dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by someone who,

after receiving the money, disappears.
