Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Trick Hoteliers and Shopkeepers

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, proposing subscriptions to magazines of the force.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal officers.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often offer subscriptions to non-existent magazines or magazines unrelated to law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri—simply dial 112— as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by those who, after receiving the money, disappear.
