Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Trick Hoteliers and Shopkeepers

They impersonate Carabinieri when making telephone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to army magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, firefighters, or to the Municipality’s violations.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately inform the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by individuals who,

having obtained money, disappear.
