Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Trick Hoteliers and Shopkeepers

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, proposing subscriptions to army magazines.

These are not members of the military, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, fire department, or Municipal guards.

How to recognize scams

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri – just dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

if they had money, would no longer show themselves.
