Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Trick Hoteliers and Shops

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to army magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to be part of the finance department, police, fire brigades, or municipal vigilance.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, beware and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,
