Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Trick Lake Garda Businesses

They impersonate carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners around Lake Garda’s middle and upper areas, offering magazine subscriptions from the Carabinieri.

These are not actual military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, police, firefighters, or municipal police.

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the genuine carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you are being targeted by individuals who, after collecting the money, disappear.
