Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Trick Lake Garda Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs around Lake Garda’s middle and upper areas, offering subscriptions to Arma magazines.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to be part of the finance department, police, fire brigade, or municipal police.

Beware of scams and how to respond

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after collecting money, cease to show themselves.
