Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Trick Local Businesses in Garda

They pretend to be Carabinieri when contacting hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to the military magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to financial authorities, the police, fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, stay alert and immediately notify the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by individuals who,

once they have money, disappear and refuse to be seen again.
