Scammers Impersonate Police Calls in Garda, Warns Authorities

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda regions, offering subscriptions to the force‘s magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the regular police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to Recognize the Scams

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those unrelated to the law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately inform the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by someone who,

would demand money, and then disappears.
