Scammers Impersonate Police in Garda Area to Trick Businesses

They impersonate carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the middle and upper Garda area, proposing subscriptions to magazines of the Arma.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, each time, claim to be from the finance police, police, fire brigade, or municipal police.

Beware of scams and how to respond

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

So, be cautious and immediately notify the carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

after receiving the money, disappears.
