Scammers Impersonate Police in Garda Hotlines, Warn Authorities

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to military magazines.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, regular police, fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

Recognizing scams

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, stay alert and immediately notify the true Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by individuals who,

if they ask for money, will no longer show themselves.
