Scammers Impersonate Police in Garda, Offer Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when contacting hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda regions, offering subscriptions to army magazines.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, at times, claim to belong to the finance police, the police force, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often suggest subscriptions to non-existent magazines or ones that have nothing to do with the law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately inform the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you are being targeted by someone who,
