Scammers Impersonate Police in Garda Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to military magazines.

They are not members of the military, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the local police.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to the law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri – simply dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by individuals who, after receiving the money, disappear.
