Scammers Impersonate Police in Garda Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurants in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to military magazines.

They are not members of the military but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, regular police, fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to Recognize Scams

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with the law enforcement forces.

So, be cautious and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri – just dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

if they have money, do not show themselves again.
