Scammers Impersonate Police in Garda Phone Scams Targeting Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in Medio and Alto Garda, offering magazine subscriptions from the army.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to Recognize Scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or ones that have nothing to do with law enforcement.

Therefore, be careful and immediately alert the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone

who, after obtaining money, disappears.
