Scammers Impersonate Police to Fraudulently Sell Magazines in Garda

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to the armed forces‘ magazines.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to be part of the finance department, police, firefighters, or municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often suggest subscriptions to non-existent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with law enforcement forces.

Therefore, remain vigilant and immediately notify the real Carabinieri – simply dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

if they had money, would no longer show themselves.
