Scammers Impersonate Police to Offer Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to the army‘s magazines.

These are not members of the military, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the financial police, regular police, firefighters, or Municipal police.

Recognizing scams

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect that you or your premises have been targeted by individuals who,

if they have money, tend to disappear and stop appearing.
