Scammers Impersonate Police to Offer Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, offering subscriptions to magazines of the army.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, police, firefighters, or Municipal police.

Recognizing the Scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications unrelated to the law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,
