Scammers Impersonate Police to Sell Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when calling hotel owners, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to magazines of the military.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, firefighters, or municipal officers.

How to recognize scams and how to respond

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with the law enforcement.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by someone who,
