Scammers Impersonate Police to Sell Fake Magazine Subscriptions
They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to army magazines.
These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, regular police, firefighters, or local Police.
How to recognize scams
They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement agencies.
Therefore, be cautious and immediately inform the genuine Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,
if they had money, would no longer show themselves.
