Scammers Impersonate Police to Sell Fake Magazine Subscriptions in Garda

They impersonate carabinieri when contacting hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in the middle and upper Garda area, proposing subscriptions to military-affiliated magazines.

These are not military personnel but scammers who, on a case-by-case basis, claim to belong to the finance police, regular police, fire brigade, or urban police.

Beware of scams and how to respond

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real carabinieri — by dialing 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after collecting the money, disappear.
