They impersonate Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in the Middle and Upper Garda region, offering subscriptions to army magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the financial police, police, fire brigade, or the municipal police.

Recognizing scams

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines unrelated to law enforcement agencies.
