Scammers Impersonate Police to Sell Fake Magazines Near Garda

They impersonate Carabinieri when contacting hotel operators, shop owners, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering subscriptions to the military’s magazines.

These are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize the scams

They often suggest subscriptions to fake magazines or publications that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you are being targeted by individuals who,

having obtained money, disappear and no longer show themselves.
