Scammers Impersonate Police to Sell Fake Subscriptions in Garda Area

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to police publications.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, at various times, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

Recognizing the scams

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you sense you have been targeted by individuals who,
