Scammers Impersonate Police to Target Garda Business Owners

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to magazines affiliated with the force.

They are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with the law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately inform the real Carabinieri – simply dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by these individuals,

who, once they take the money, disappear without a trace.
