Scammers Impersonate Police to Target Garda Businesses

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurants in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, offering subscriptions to the force’s magazines.

These are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to be part of the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the Comune police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those unrelated to the law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately alert the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect being targeted by someone who,

having obtained money, no longer makes an appearance.
