Scammers Impersonate Police to Target Garda Businesses and Shop Owners

They impersonate Carabinieri when contacting hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurant owners in the Middle and Upper Garda area, proposing subscriptions to magazines of the force.

They are not soldiers, but scammers who, every time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

Recognizing scams

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or ones that have nothing to do with law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be alert and immediately notify the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,
