Scammers Impersonate Police to Target Garda Region Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Medio and Alto Garda regions, offering subscriptions to the armed forces‘ magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to be part of the finance police, police, fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to Recognize Scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to the law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately alert the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

once they have obtained money, no longer show themselves.
