Scammers Impersonate Police to Trick Businesses in Garda Region

They impersonate Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda, proposing subscriptions to army magazines.

These are not soldiers, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal guards.

How to recognize scams

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,
