Scammers Impersonate Police to Trick Garda Area Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering subscriptions to magazines associated with the armed forces.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

Recognizing scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines unrelated to law enforcement authorities.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the true Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, if they have money, will no longer show themselves.
