Scammers Impersonate Police to Trick Garda Business Owners

They impersonate Carabinieri when contacting hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurant owners in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to military magazines.

These are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the financial police, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

Recognizing scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you sense you have been targeted by someone who,

asks for money and then disappears.
