Scammers Impersonate Police to Trick Garda Hoteliers and Business Owners

The scammers pose as Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering magazine subscriptions from the Force.

They are not military personnel but fraudsters who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the regular police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to Recognize Frauds

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

if they seek money, will disappear and stop appearing.
