Scammers Impersonate Police to Trick Garda Region Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda regions, offering subscriptions to magazines associated with the force.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the regular police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those that have nothing to do with law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri – just dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after taking the money, disappear.
