Scammers Impersonating Carabinieri Target Local Businesses in Garda Area

They impersonate Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, offering magazine subscriptions from the army.

They are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

Recognizing scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

seeking money, no longer present themselves in person.
