Scammers Impersonating Police Target Garda Hoteliers and Businesses

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda, offering subscriptions to army magazines.

These are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the financial police, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal Police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with the law enforcement.

So, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri – just dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

if they had money, would no longer show themselves.
