Scammers Impersonating Police to Target Garda Businesses and Residents

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering subscriptions to magazines associated with the force.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the financial police, the police, the fire department, or the municipal police.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often offer subscriptions to fake magazines or publications that have nothing to do with law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri – simply dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who, after taking the money, disappears.
