Scammers Pose as Authorities in Garda Region, Warns Carabinieri

They pose as Carabinieri when contacting hoteliers, shopkeepers, craftsmen, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda regions, offering subscriptions to the forces‘ magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance authorities, police, fire brigade, or the Municipality police.

How to Recognize Scams

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with the law enforcement.

Therefore, stay vigilant and immediately notify the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

if they seek money, are no longer visible.
