Scammers Pose as Authorities to Sell Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering subscriptions to military magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, police, fire brigade, or Municipal authorities.

How to recognize scams

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

So, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

would have money but no longer shows themselves.
