Scammers Pose as Carabinieri in Garda Area Crimes

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda area, proposing subscriptions to magazines of the force.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to be part of the financial police, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal officers.

How to recognize scams

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have fallen prey to individuals who,
