Scammers Pose as Carabinieri in Garda Area to Trick Business Owners

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda area, proposing subscriptions to magazines of the armed forces.

They are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal Police.

How to recognize scams

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

if they have received money, will no longer appear.
