Scammers Pose as Carabinieri in Garda Area to Trick Hoteliers

They impersonate carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in the middle and high Garda area, offering magazine subscriptions from the Arma.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to be members of the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the local police.

Beware of scams and how to react

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have no connection to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after receiving the money, disappear.
