Scammers Pose as Carabinieri in Garda Area, Warn Authorities

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda area, proposing subscriptions to magazines of the carabinieri.

They are not actual military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or ones that have nothing to do with the security forces.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately inform the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by someone who,
