Scammers Pose as Carabinieri in Garda Area, Warns Police

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda area, proposing subscriptions to magazines affiliated with the force.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, regular police, fire brigade, or municipal officers.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often offer subscriptions to non-existent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with law enforcement.

So be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri – just dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who, after collecting the money, disappears.
