Scammers Pose as Carabinieri in Garda, Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions

Pretending to be Carabinieri, individuals are making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to military magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, occasionally, claim to belong to the finance police, police, fire brigade, or municipal police (Comune).

Recognizing the scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or ones that have no relation to law enforcement agencies (forze dell’ordine).

Therefore, be cautious and immediately inform the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by individuals who,

having money, no longer show themselves.
