Scammers Pose as Carabinieri in Garda Region, Authorities Warn

They pose as Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Medio and Alto Garda regions, offering subscriptions to the carabinieri magazines.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance authorities, police, firefighters, or the Comune police.

How to recognize scams

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the true Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

if they had money, would no longer show themselves.
