Scammers Pose as Carabinieri in Garda Region to Trick Locals

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda region, proposing subscriptions to arm magazines.

They are not military personnel but con artists who, at various times, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipality police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines unrelated to law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri – simply dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

if they have money, no longer make themselves visible.
