Scammers Pose as Carabinieri in Garda, Targeting Local Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurants in Medio and Alto Garda, proposing subscriptions to army magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to tax authorities, the police, firefighters, or the Comune police.

How to recognize scams

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

after obtaining money, disappear and do not make further contact.
